2009-2010 NFL Playoff Tournament

Updates
2/7 - Brian set a new record in this tournament with 20 points. Guess who's record he beat? His brother, Aaron, who had 19 points in 2006. Now that's a good family of football pickers. I won't mention where their dad has finished but it's nowhere near the record... maybe he can get some help from his sons next year. This year was my best finish at 24th place though, so I shouldn't talk much. Christine gets 2nd place after picking every game identical to Brian except the NE-BAL game and she picked the tiebreaker exactly at 48 points. Well done! 3rd place goes to Marybeth who picked her way to 18 points and who is now the first person in this tournament's history to notch multiple top 3 finishes. Marybeth finished in 2nd place in 2006 with 18 points. Congrats!

Paul S. (4th) and Jenny K. (10th) also picked the Saints to win but they missed too many games in the earlier rounds. Also a record 17% of the field picked the correct Super Bowl winner.  Maybe next year we'll see the first 11 for 11, 22 points, perfection. Thanks for playing.

1/24 - If the Saints win; Brian would set the record for points (20) and would get 1st place, Christine 2nd, and Marybeth 3rd. If the Colts win; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd would be determined by the tiebreaker for Debbie, John, and Makayla! Now since Makayla is not in the money, 3rd place money would go to Rick W.
1/17 - Brian's perfection has ended, but he's still in 1st place. If the Saints beat the Colts in the Super Bowl, Brian will take home the championship. Still a long way to go. Good job Debbie, Matt, and Makayla on picking the Jets over the Chargers. Note that if the Colts beat the Saints in the Super Bowl, my 5-year-old niece Makayla, along with Debbie and John, have a shot at 1st place.
1/16 - Brian is still perfect with 6 out of 6. Only 2 out of 30 didn't pick the Colts to win. Tonya, last year's winner, is the first person eliminated with 3 points. This was me in the 3rd quarter of the Colts-Ravens game.
1/11 - After the 4 wild card games, Brian F. is the only one still perfect. Standings are sorted by the "Max Pts" column, which is the maximum number of points you can get if the rest of your picks are correct.
1/10 - 14 people are still perfect. With both games today, 70% picked the winner.

1/9 - 30 entries total, 29 will be paid. Makayla my 5 year old niece is just playing for fun. Not a single person picked the Bengals to go past the wild card round, so their loss didn't hurt anyone much.

How To Play
Pick the winning teams all the way to the Super Bowl. Click here to view and print the playoff bracket - Or use the template below to email your picks to me. Include name, email address, and tiebreaker when submitting your picks. Tiebreaker is total combined points scored in the Super Bowl, going over does not matter, closest wins. Submit picks and $5 entry fee to me by Friday January 8th.

Important: If a #6 team beats a #3 team in the first round, the #6 team will play the #1 team in the next round. For example, if #6 Baltimore beats #3 New England, Baltimore would play #1 Indianapolis. Then the winner of the Cincinnati vs New York Jets game would play San Diego. FILL OUT THE BRACKET ACCORDINGLY, THANKS.

Rules
One entry per person. Each correct pick will be awarded points: 1 point for Wild Card winners, 2 points for Divisional winners, 3 points for Conference winners, 4 points for Super Bowl winner. Final standings will be based on total points. The tiebreaker will break all ties. If results are still tied, payouts will be split evenly. The top 3 places are paid, 1st gets 60%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 10%. After I receive all the entries, everyone's picks will be posted online on this page http://hillcave.com/football/playoffs/2009.html
